The Pond by the Sea is a result of my first round of National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo), in November of 2022. The Pond is fictitious, as you’ll soon come to see (it’s about a bunch of ducks), but mildly autobiographical in nature. It is the second installment that I’ve shared online, and is meant to follow “The Crash”. Who knows where this project will go, but for now, I’m proud to share it here with you.
Leaves clattered as wind whipped through the branches of delicate aspens and laurel trees. The tops of the trees and heads of the long grasses flailed and the wind could be seen gliding across the surface of the pond. Waves crashed upon the beach, adding a wild symphony of sound surrounding the pond. Feathered, furry and scaled ones all sought refuge in their dens and nests. There was nothing to do but sit and to wait, and for those who knew Blue: to worry.
“She’s still out there in this!” Ripple cried when she skidded to a halt on the pond.
“What? Where? Who?!” Ripple’s siblin…
